Education has changed. In our age of technology, it is no longer as important to recall details and facts as it is to have skills to find new information and know what to do with it. Research shows that many of today’s students will hold jobs that don’t currently exist. Instead of teaching through rote memorization and regurgitating information, students need to be able to think deeply about issues and solve problems creatively. Teamwork, communication through different media, using and understanding technology, and sifting through a multitude of information is imperative. Students need to be flexible thinkers, risk takers, collaborators, innovators, and be willing to persevere. Our MakerSpace allows students to use all of these skills in a safe, fun environment perfectly complementing the classroom education.
